Our Outstanding Teachers

"My infant was only 12 weeks old when we started, and our instructor...always found ways to include the littlest of participants."    ---Mary C.

All of the teachers at Music Together of Charm City are passionate about music -- and more importantly about supporting your child's musical journey. During their classes they create a fun, informal, musically rich social setting that supports the varied learning styles of both children and adults.

All of our teachers have successfully completed the Music Toether teaching workshop developed by the Center of Music and Young Children, Princeton, New Jersey. Some teachers have participated in Music Together®'s Advanced Certification Program.

Director/Teacher of Music Together of Charm City, Miriam has been teaching early childhood music since 1998. She has a B.A. degree in music, a Master of Fine Arts degree in theatre, and she is a certified Music Together teacher. She has studied several instruments - including Renaissance and Baroque woodwinds - and has sung in both professional and college choirs. Miriam dances with swords (ouch, not real ones!) as a member of Charm City Rapper, & clogs on Zoom as a member of Step Across the Pond, with dancers from the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, & Russia. Now that she is an empty nester, Miriam sings REALLY loud in the shower (ask the neighbors)!

Mandy, a certified Music Together teacher, is the Center Director for Music Together Chesapeake, our neighbor in the Annapolis area. She has a Bachelor's degree in Theatre from Goucher College and spent much of her school career singing in choral groups and taking voice lessons.  Mandy began teaching Music Together in 2008 after attending classes for several years as a mom, and she has enjoyed sharing the joy of music with hundreds of families over the years.  In addition to teaching Music Together family classes, Mandy is an In School Teacher Specialist that brings the Music Together curriculum to local preschools.  Mandy is a part of several community singing groups in the Baltimore area and leads regular song circles at a meditation center in Laurel.  She enjoys hiking, practicing guitar, dancing, playing crystal bowls, and participating in drum circles.  As you can see from her photo, she also enjoys serenading very musical goats. Mandy sings REALLY loud while dancing barefoot on the grass!

Julie is elated to join the Music Together community! Julie discovered Music Together as a toddler parent and was struck by the program’s unique ability to combine joyful silliness with thoughtful and intentional pedagogy. Working for Music Together combines Julie’s passion for education and love of music. Julie has an MS in Education from Johns Hopkins and spent over a decade teaching and serving as a literacy coach and specialist. She is also an enthusiastic hobbyist musician; she has studied voice and piano, the latter for twelve years, and has sung in choirs. Most recently, she has started picking up some very (!) basic guitar skills. Julie sings REALLY loud while cooking in the kitchen with her son!
